New season, new equipment, new venue

Welcome back North Iowa winter sport participants!

Over the last year, North Iowa Nordic joined with Cerro Gordo Trails, a 501c3 corporation with similar goals: the establishment and improvement of outdoor recreational trails in North Iowa.

We were able to obtain donations from the John D and Luise Hanson Foundation, the Kinney Lindstrom Foundation, Todd Juhlin DDS and Yunek Law Firm to purchase a Can-Am Defender UTV with pre-equipped electronics to run the YTS snow groomers for setting both classic tracks and skate ski lanes. This is state of the art equipment for North Iowa skiers. Big thanks to all!

On venue, NIN did not renew their grooming contract with Lime Creek. The walkers on the trails generally made adequate snow grooming impossible. We wish the County the best in getting that issue under control in the future.

So starting in 2021, or 2022 if that is what the snow gods provide, NIN will groom the Mason City Country Club for cross country skiing. Open to the public, but no walkers permitted. Easy access to the trailhead from the west parking lot; a 50 yard walk to the driving range where the trail starts.
