V1 offset stroke is the hill climbing stroke. It refers to the height of the hang pole, where you hang your weight. That hand is higher. At least to your ear. But the shoulders stay level. And the spine stays vertical; do not tip from waist or dip shoulders.
The hang elbow is roughly 90 degrees. The hang pole is planted vertically and within inches of the foot.
Flare the elbow out to get a bit more force.
Try to keep body leaning forward, but with hips forward. The big shots really compress the abs.
You need to shorten the v1 stroke on steeps. And quicken turnover. Kind of like a granny gear on a bike. Saves balance and energy.
